Needless to say, i felt like i was scammed.Īnd then you have situations were the emulation isn't even accurate enough or there are changes in games so you are not really getting the same thing (F-Zero X had missing textures and WaveRace had different billboards for instance). I had already made my first purchase of 4 N64 games before i noticed it. It didn't even cross my mind that Nintendo would sell me garbage PAL roms. This was kind of my fault for not looking it up but can you blame me? This whole PAL situation was a thing of the past for several years. What kind of half assed collection would you have if that service was your only option? Preservation or having the best games were definitely not some of the service's priorities.Īnd did i mention i live in Europe? Oh boy, what a nightmare that was. How can anyone create a "best of N64 games" collection when only 20 something games were available until the end of the Wii's lifecycle? And there's no Goldeneye, no Banjo-Kazooie, no Turok, etc. But even then, i couldn't get 1/3 of the games i have because they were never released in the service. Let's say i'm paying for the trouble so i won't dump those carts myself. Now, i will ignore the fact that i would have to pay for these games a second time. I have a large collection of N64 games that i planned to eventually "transfer" in digital form. First of all, game availability was extremely limited. But it was so bad that i promised to myself i will never support such efforts ever again and stick to homebrew. My personal experience with the official emulation scene was the Wii VC.
